Located at 470 Candler Park Drive, from 1918 to1950 the Old Stone Church was the hand-built home of the Antioch East Baptist Church. They added East to their name after they moved one block east from their site on Oakdale Road. Since 1980 the Old Stone Church has been home to the First Existentialist Congregation (an independent affiliate of the Unitarian Universalist Association) aka as “First E.”
This marble and granite marker, installed in 2007, was created in collaboration with First Existentialist Congregation, Antioch East Baptist Church, Grady High School Art Department, and Atlanta Partnership for Arts in Learning. The marker was installed at the Old Stone Church in November 2007 for Antioch East’s 135th Church Anniversary Celebration and their Historic Sites Bus Tours.
